I Want To Live on my Own Again

I can't work so well at home - the presence of family can be pretty bothersome. I dunno. I'm like that, I guess.

So I've been looking around for cheap condos for rent, or better yet, for rent to own. But I don't understand how mortgages work, honestly.

I tried looking any non-wikipedia explanations up. One of the results I ended up with a link to Home Mortgage Loans. Later on, I found another bit of information that would've helped me if my situation were more applicable: "Amerisave is a direct lender selling home mortgage loans in the possible rates and pricing. Know more about online mortgage loans by checking out Amerisave's company profile at Career Builder."

Heh. Maybe if I were an American. But I'm a bloody Pinoy.

Argh. Forget rent-to-own or mortgages. Anybody have any ideas on where one can find cheap condos for rent in Manila?

Job Hunting

I remember back during the days when I was still struggling to find a job with which to support my rather lackadaisical way of studying. Then I discovered sites like Job Street, Jobs DB and this Executive Search company (although the last one wasn't of much use to a beginner like me).

And then I discovered, much to my dismay, that I didn't know what kind of work I could actually be doing. Trawling the net showed me that asking so-called experts could help. Like, say, if I were going through that executive search company I mentioned earlier, one way to know more about executive search companies is by turning to someone who knows the business pretty well. Having said that, here's Dennis C Carey, a well-respected executive search and recruitment expert. Check out Dennis Carey's profile here.

But then these people, again, aren't much help in trying to make something out of your life, career-wise. So I made myself a blog. And through this blog - my oldest, to date - I was able to discover that stint I had with E-Mac (you know who this is, Bruce), and am now somewhat capable of subsisting on what I earn.

In a sense, all the work I've been doing have all been sent my way via a stroke of luck. I got the first one by being very inquisitive, the second one by taking a friend up on his offer, and the third by sheer luck - I'd never have taken that job if they hadn't called me up.

Now, I'm in a new set of crossroads. Hopefully, I do make this one work. Funny enough, I didn't get this offer via job-hunting. I was scouted out by a headhunter, and was lucky. Yet again.

Let's hope my luck holds out.
